Guernsey Airport is looking to recruit and appoint Firefighters to join the Airport Fire and Rescue Service. The Airport Fire Service works with the Guernsey Fire & Rescue Service (GFRS), in selection tests for candidates who believe they have the necessary personal qualities, skills and attributes to commence a challenging and rewarding full time career as a Firefighter at Guernsey Airport.
As an Airport Firefighter, you will act as an integral part of both emergency response and community safety teams, working with and within the community to prevent emergencies occurring, minimising the impact when they do occur and intervening effectively when required, to the benefit of the community.
The selection process will also identify suitable candidates to fill vacancies that may occur in the next two years. Airport firefighters must meet several standards and criteria during the application process which include:
Must pass the written aptitude tests.
Must pass the physical simulated and fitness tests.
Must pass a full medical and eye test to 6/6, 6/6.
Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
Must be able to successfully perform a ladder reach test (n.b. this is not normally achieved by those under 1.65 metres in height).
Airport firefighters provide fire cover, rescue services and first aid, in accordance with national and international regulations. Airport Firefighters assist in carrying out a range of other operational, specialist and emergency duties within the perimeters of Guernsey Airport.
A new opportunity is waiting for an electrician at Guernsey Ports based at Guernsey Airport. The post-holder will work on a shift rota to maintain the operational hours of the airport (0530 to 2100) daily. The successful applicant will cover a variety of tasks to include airfield lighting, electrical /mechanical plant, conveyor systems and other control systems associated in the operation of the airport. Working as part of a small team, we can offer good rates of pay with an associated shift allowance, annual holidays and a career-average defined benefit pension scheme.
An exciting opportunity for an electrician to join the technical services team at Guernsey Ports based at St Peter Port Harbour. St Peter Port and St Sampsons Harbours are the main maritime freight and passenger routes into Guernsey, Guernsey and the wider islands of the Bailiwick are popular destination for visiting vessels. Maintaining the operation of the harbours and the surrounding infrastructure ensures no two days are the same. The post entails domestic and commercial wiring along with planned maintenance and emergency repairs on electric cranes, electronic systems and aids to navigation and lighthouses in Bailiwick waters. Working as part of a team, we can offer good rates of pay with associated pay enhancements, annual leave and an career-average defined benefit pension scheme.
