Guernsey to Newcastle route takes off
21st May 2025
Direct flights between Guernsey and Newcastle launched on 6th May 2025, marking the start of increased connectivity with the northeast of England.
The Blue Islands operated service took flight this week and was greeted at Guernsey Airport with a water cannon salute.
Upon arrival, passengers aboard the inaugural flight were presented with goodie bags prepared by VisitGuernsey, which contained locally-made gifts and keepsakes, such as Guernsey Gache flavoured fudge and ‘Liberation 80’ themed postcards and fridge magnets.
The thrice weekly service includes direct flights between Guernsey and Newcastle on Tuesdays, with additional flights via Jersey on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Ross Coppolo, Managing Director of Guernsey Ports, said: "This new service provides valuable connectivity between Guernsey and the Northeast of England.
“It is the result of a collaborative project between Guernsey Ports, Blue Islands and Newcastle International Airport, to increase and diversify travel options for the local community and those looking to visit the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
“We are working with our airline partners to further increase the number of destinations available to local travellers by supporting new routes and helping to connect with international travel hubs.”
The new route brings added convenience for islanders travelling to the northeast, whether for business, visiting family, or enjoying a city break, and offers easier access to the Channel Islands for visitors from the Newcastle area.
The initial schedule runs through to early November 2025, covering the October half-term travel period.
