International Women's Day 2024 - Susanna Durman
8th March 2024Susanna is a ground breaker in her field, being one of the first female chartered members of the Institution of Civil Engineers in Guernsey.
She recently joined Guernsey Ports as a Client Programme Manager for major projects.
Susanna completed her Master’s Degree in civil engineering at the University of Surrey and has since worked on a wide range of projects locally involving important national infrastructure, from the Waste Transfer Station to Guernsey Dairy. Susanna loves to see how her projects help improve the lives and businesses of her community.
“I would encourage any young women who enjoy STEM subjects in school, such as maths & science, to pursue those studies, as they will open up amazing and exciting opportunities for their future,” said Susanna.
“If you are interested in science and maths, I would also recommend getting in touch with the Channel Island Group of Professional Engineers (CIGPE) who organise a number of engineering talks throughout the year on different engineering topics.
"This is a great opportunity to meet people working in the field, learn more about different specialisms and ask questions."
